The proper way for roof treatments is Soft washing. Soft Washing a roof is a cleaning method that uses low-pressure water combined with specialized cleaning solutions (often biodegradable) to remove algae, moss, lichen, mold, and other organic stains from roofing materials.

Unlike pressure washing—which uses high force and can damage shingles—soft washing relies on chemical cleaning power rather than water force.
